Hidden Blade

A model I made for the /r/Blender February contest, theme is “Espionage”. Based on Assassin’s Creed, I used this scene to play with a few new techniques. Primarily, with the upcoming release of Blender 2.77 which will have GPU accelerated subsurface scattering, I updated my PBR material node to include SSS. I rendered this scene using the test build of 2.77 in order to take advantage of this. Still took 2 1/2 hours to render. Secondly, I haven’t done much sculpting in Blender for a long time. As I’m getting into Substance Painter, I realised that you can bake the normals down from a hi-poly mesh down onto your low-poly, so I wanted to get familiar again with sculpting.
