High Capacity Fog Collector

This design was inspired by the flexibility a hub design allowed with it's highly versatile reconfigurability. During the development of this concept design, the aim was to make it such that: - it is very efficient and reliable as a fog collector - it is made up of as many readily available components as possible - it is very cost effective - it takes minimum time to set up any given configuration - it can take advantage of available materials to construct a system that is structurally sound - it can withstand wind strength of 70 MPH - has an adjustable height ranging from 1-3.5m The High Capacity Fog Collector is a structure designed to accommodate numerous configurations of 1m x 1m mesh size to 2m x 2m mesh size and a combination of both to maximize the volume of fog collected in a given footprint. The idea was to fine tune the design so that the number of parts were reduced and made from as many readily available components on the market as possible. The structure can be easily disassembled and transported in a box with the exception of the pole which is carried separately. As for the mesh, it is micro-welded to the mesh holder and is then held in place with tension springs and the roller bar. The roller bar can roll up the mesh in the water basin for easy storage and transport. The entire model utilizes nuts and bolts to secure the components together and to make any adjustments. Once water drains down the mesh and is collected in the water basins, the water is the pooled at the main water collector and is then piped to a collection tank. Some of these components may be optional but were included in the concept to demonstrate the possibilities. Tie down cables and spikes were added for stability.
