Hilt grip with oval profile and double core holes.
thingiverse
After using my initial design for sparring a few sessions, I had to go back and reevaluate the design. The biggest challenge we faced during sparring was that no adhesive I used and easily accessible was strong enough to keep PLA bonded to the fiberglass core. There was no issue with the hilt sliding lengthwise, but twisting was a problem. My new concept is to use two 8mm fiberglass rods as a core to prevent twisting. I also modified the profile from two parallel sides with a radius at each end to an oval profile. After some testing, I will adjust the dimensions as needed. Print Settings: Printer: Velleman Vertex K8400 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.1 Infill: 40% Notes: I printed it vertically with a brim for secure platform adhesion.
