HO scale cooling tower for ice plant, cold storage, or ice cream plant. Cooling towers like this were common signs of industrial refrigeration equipment in the first half of the 20th century. Refrigeration plants would compress some coolant like ammonia gas, extract heat from whatever was cooled, and then let it expand and cool to dump the heat outside. Cooling towers had radiator-style pipes to remove waste heat; water in the cooling tower flowed over the radiators. This model was designed for a Formabs Form One printer. Parts were printed directly on the build plate in upright orientation so the fins didn't need support. I printed the two right angle parts and glued them together. I added a piece of 1/16" (0.062) styrene on top. The real fins look like they were corrugated iron; I'll let someone else add that detail! Model available in SketchUp form or as STL.
