A full size Roundhouse printable on a 7 inch bed. Whew! This was a challenge. A few weeks ago a fellow MR and 3D associate Bill Schonfelder from Killeen TX suggested I model a roundhouse. So Bill, here it is. Unlike my other models I have not assembled and painted it because I all ready have a roundhouse, so I don’t know if there will be any issues with it. If there are, let me know (kabrumble@comcast.net) and I’ll get them fixed asap. I am printing critical and interfacing parts to make sure they fit together well. My roundhouse is modeled to associate with a 90 foot turntable which means it will fit engines up to 12 inches. The doors are on 15° sections with about 3 inches between the turntable and the roundhouse. The doors are hinged using a piece of 3/64 inch brass rod. To that end they “could” be setup for remote operation by running the brass rods all the way under the table to connect to servos. The roundhouse is modeled as a brick building, with a slate roof and wooden doors about 19 feet high and 14 feet wide. The parts are modular so you can make it with one stall or as many as you like. The floor is modeled as a wooden floor. I created it with a recess for the track, that puts the track on the same level as it would be on a 3/16” cork roadbed. I’ve tried to include lots of detail with interior trusses, exhaust stacks, gutters, downspouts, windows with glass etc. Enjoy…Kim
