HO-Scale Wheel Vise/Chuck

HO-Scale Wheel Vise/Chuck

This thing can be used to hold HO-scale rolling stock wheels so that they can be spun in a hand drill. The vise centers (at least roughly) wheels using their rims. It is nominally sized for 36 inch (scale) wheels. It could presumably be scaled down to better center 33 inch scale wheels. The vise has two halves. After a wheel is inserted in the internally threaded half, it is clamped by tightening the externally threaded half. The externally threaded part includes an 0.25 inch hex that works well with the three-jaw chuck in my drill. Some used wheels I purchased were quite dirty and rusty. I created this thing so that I could use a cordless drill to spin them for cleaning and polishing.
