I don't own a 3D printer so who knows if this will work. https://youtu.be/LW4VinbB4EY This is a gear box powered by a low cost hobby motor (~$0.75 on ebay). The motor is said to be 8000 RPM at 3V. The gearing reduces that by 750x for a little more than 10 RPM on the 6mm D-shaft output. Designed in Fusion 360. Gears made with Fusion's built in spur gear generator script. The gear box is intended to power my original orrery design, but is designed to be a generic module. Ideas for other things still percolating... There is one experimental STL file in this upload. It is a test gear. It slices okay in Cura using an Ender 3 profile. It probably needs a 0.2 nozzle to get enough detail, but maybe not. Cura says it's a 12 minute print using 1g of filament with an 0.4 nozzle. Using an 0.2 nozzle the print takes about an hour, but uses the same amount of filament. Still reading? This is still a work in progress. I still don't own a 3d printer. Tolerances have not been tested. Based on feedback comments, I have uploaded the rest of the printable parts for the gearbox. The gear on the motor should be press fit as should the gear on the D-shaft. All other gears should spin freely on their shafts. Motor should press fit into case.
