Hobie Tandem Island Wind Indicator

Hobie Tandem Island Wind Indicator

This is a pretty obscure design but meets a serious need for me and hopefully others. It is a wind indicator for a small Hobie sail boat , using a carbon fiber arrow shaft to fly a streamer high above the mast. The arrow shaft is attached using an 8/32 threaded fastener embedded in the printed part. This makes it easily removable when you store your sail in the sail bag. This part was designed on solid edge to address the need on the Hobie Island series sailboats for a good wind indicator. The Hobie wind indicator is poorly designed and difficult to see in certain points of sail. Since the Island series uses a roller furled main, you are unable to set the stock wind indicator to a position where it can reliably be seen. This design places the wind indicator high above the rotating mast making it visible in all sail/wind conditions. I have used this sailing with great success but did not take any photos. I will add photos to this thing this spring when the water up here becomes less solid.
