Holder / tower and lid for hexagonal game tiles

Technically, this isn’t a remix. But the holder is modelled for Dworki‘s beautiful puzzle game tiles and so I‘d like to link the two. It holds the 17 game pieces of 3 mm thickness.

I printed in dark grey recycled PLA and copper silk PLA, with the colour change after the first layer. If your filament is somewhat translucent, you should print the first 2 - 3 layers in that colour, then change to colour 2.

The tile holder STL file does not have a logo! I just added the Star Trek badge contours for my print. You can add your own logo or initial in Slicer as a negative volume (mirror it on the build plate; max. 1 mm high, as the bottom of the holder is 2 mm)

The lid has an opening so that you can see the pretty game tiles. But they won‘t fall out.

The lid comes in 2 versions. One for normal printing like the holder, the other for printing in vase mode (with 0.9 mm extrusion width on the outer perimeter! - Yes, the 0.4 nozzle can handle it.)

On a well calibrated printer the lid should fit over the holder with a bit of grip. Not really tight, but it won‘t slide on or off by itself, as showcased in one of the pictures.

Layer height: 0.2 layer;

Infill: 20%;

Perimeters: 1 (with 0.9 extrusion width for outer perimeter); alternatively 2 perimeters (with standard 0.45 mm extrusion width for outer perimeter) → 2 perimeters doesn’t work for vase mode.

Seam position: Random;

Bottom infill pattern: Hilbert curve; Top infill pattern: Concentric;

Detect thin walls ✔️

No brim on smooth PEI sheet

My filaments: copper silk PLA + dark grey recycled PLA

Print time between 30 and 45 minutes each.

Should you need the gcode or print files for Slicer, let me know. Need a different size? Let me know!

I’d appreciate pictures if you decide to make this. ☺️ Have fun with the game!
