Introducing my prototype Holistic Heater Barrel for Makerbot. Update: Metal Heater Barrel arrived, but bore is filled 2/3 cms in, requiring careful drilling by user. This design aimed to enhance Makerbot's heating/extruding assembly reliability with a single enclosed unit. Radiator fins help dissipate heat before it reaches the motor mount, potentially reducing plastic expansion and friction within the barrel. Originally licensed CC-BY-NC-SA but now also GNU GPL. Print your version in plastic or wait for stainless steel prototype from Shapeways (free shipping in Europe).
