Known for sunflower fields and spacious skies, it is not so unlike the American plains, where Liaigre’s new designs seem right at home. The collection is the glamorous cream of the crop in outdoor furnishings. Liaigre is best known as the interior designer of the Mercer Hotel, but his career began as a horse breeder in the Vendée. The chair, called the St Bart’s Ile de Ré, is teak, a rainforest hardwood often used for outdoor furniture because of its unsurprising ability to withstand the elements. The chair has a curved back, sturdy frame and back legs seemingly poised on the brink of a canter.
