Honda Civic Del Sol Battery Tie Down

I went down to O' Riley to get a battery tie-down for my Del Sol and all they had was this floppy rubber thing that was too big. I went ahead and bought the kit to get the "J-hooks" (I have since discovered they also sell the hooks on their own) and then I designed and printed my own crossmember. This crossmember is sized to fit the optima battery in my car, but seeing as the battery fits the tray almost perfectly it should work with other batteries as well, and if you need a little bigger, just scale your print settings a little. The V1 version is the version I printed and install in my car. I had to drill out the holes a little to get them to fit the J-hooks (ABS tends to shrink a little), for this reason it might be worth adding a couple of passes to your wall thicknesses in your print settings. The V2 version has slightly larger holes (which should forgo the drilling) and has longer side braces to allow for greater stabilization (which is probably over kill as the V1 works pretty well in my experience). I provide both as either may be a good jumping off point for your own specific application. This item should be super easy to print (I only printed this item once to get it to work), and you would likely get away with PLA, though because of the fact this is an automotive application ABS is a better choice. The part is designed with structural architecture to aid in its resilience and rigidity, and should be a very capable part, but of course, use at your own risk, I make no claims regarding suitability for any given application and I am not liable for any issues that arise from its use or failure. I designed these items in 123D Design. Note on usage, even though this part was specifically created for my Del Sol and battery, it will very likely work with other civics, or other small cars that use the same size battery. My design has a battery allowance of 129mm. So if your battery width is close to that size, you should be able to make this brace work.
