Honda Insight Switch Mount and Blanking Plates

I'm working on a project where one of my goals is to not to make any permanent alterations to my car, but I do need to mount a switch. Many cars have "blanking plates" the fill the holes where buttons would go for options that you didn't order or that aren't available in your market. Usually drilling holes in one of these plates is a harmless enough way to mount a switch, but in this case I wanted the switch to be mounted flush, and I have a 3D printer, so I popped them out of the dash and took some measurements to make my own. Print Settings Printer Brand: MakerBot Printer: MakerBot Replicator Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: .1 Infill: 5% Notes: The original (2000-06) Honda Insight has a row of 3 blanking plates in the dashboard between the steering column and the door. As far as I can tell, the smaller ones on the sides are a size specific to the Insight and the one in the middle fits a switch also found in the original (1997-2001) CR-V. Anyway! The files ending in 1 are for the smaller Insight-specific hole, while the files ending in 2 could possibly also fit an early CR-V. You can also alter the files to fit other switches. I recommend printing the switch mounts at .1 or possibly even finer if you can, mostly for finish but also because 1 is barely bigger than the switch itself so the bezel is quite thin. I printed both with supports and a thin helper disc. The replacement blanking plates can probably be printed face down and at a lower resolution. Car interiors can get very hot parked in the summer, so keep that in mind when making your plastic choice. I printed mine in Inland black ABS.
