This is a version of a Medal Hanger I have seen in photos, don't know where to get it though so I made a 3D Printable version. Great for the Conquorer Virtual Challenge Medals from My Virtual Mission. I have created 2 versions; 14mm thick base and 19mm base. I did manage to print the 14mm versions and it takes a little work to get the ribbon to sit flat but once it does, it looks pretty good, and if you are not looking to take the medal out, it seems to work just fine. I will have to wait for the magnets to arrive and finish assembling it to be sure... more of this to come. I have also used 10mm x 2mm rare earth magnets to secure the front on the base. 4 required per hanger. Hole in the middle is to remove the cover when there is no medal in it. Should be easy enough to remove when there is. Slots are to allow the ribbon to be looped for padding behind the medal and to help retain the ribbon in some sort of orderly fashion. There is also an indent on the back that allows for a Command strip or Hook and Loop wall attachment so there is no drilling or holds in walls required. If you want a version with a hole in it for a screw, let me know and I can modify and upload a version. Originally modeled in Rhino and print samples are using a FlashForge Guider II with Dark Wood PLA filament. I also used rafts (to overcome adhesion problems) and supports on both parts but they should not be necessary. Print the front cover top side down, and the base bottom side down will need support if you want to indentation for the command strip. I will post photos of the printed display when I am finished assembling it. UPDATE: I have included a version of the base with countersunk 4mm holes. There are 3 holes in it, but only 1 is necessary given the small amount of weight of a medal. I hope this helps for the request. UPDATE: 8 MARCH 21: I am getting some requests for variations on this design. I am happy to oblige when I get an hour spare (this is not my day job) and if you really do like the design and want a variation, please consider showing how much you like my work by buying me a coffee (tipping me). UPDATE: 22 MARCH 21: I have uploaded a corner base, a top/bottom edge base and a left/right side base, following a request for parts that could fit into a square or rectangular frame. I have printed the corner successfully, so I assume the rest are ok. It is a right top corner, but rotating or mirroring it would be suitable to get prints for all corners.
