How big a hole should I have?

After finding out that the hole I designed and printed was to small or too large, I decided to print some gauges so that I could design the appropriate hole for the screw or bolts I was planning on using. I most often use 3mm, but decided to print all three gauges just in case. I printed with a color change for the text so that it would show up better.
