Hoya lens filter case (55 mm)

thingiverse

I replicated the design of a Hoya 55mm lens filter case. The inner diameter of the container is just under 59 mm, so anything smaller than that will fit. The inner height is 7.5 mm. I will include pictures of the original case and my 3d printed version. In the original case, the filter rests on a thin pad of foam in the bottom half of the case, which helps a lot to hold the filter in place. I printed both halves (bottom and lid) separately with the flat surfaces against the build plate, so I didn't need any support material. The case is closed by "screwing" the two halves together. ####v3 update: In the latest version, I have thickened the base of the bottom and shortened the height of the lock ring on the lid. I have also added a small ring to the bottom of the container to hold the filter in place, but I haven't printed and tested it yet. 23/10/2020. ######Old update: In the current version (v2) I find that the base of the bottom is a bit too thin, compared to the top, but this is a quick fix. Otherwise, the halves seem to lock together nicely. I may shorten the height of the "lock-ring" of the lid by 0.5 mm. Without a foam pad, the filter sits a bit looser than in the original case. You could fix this by adding raised "walls" to hold the filter in place inside the case. I will upload new files whenever I fix this.
