HP Reverb G2 Faceplate / Gasket Mod

So I really liked the cushion on the original face plate and wanted to reuse it but I couldn't find any mod that made use of it. So I found this great member Danol who shared the original CAD file so I modified it a bit so the faceplate can be used with the original cushion and the magnets too. So you don't have to buy those. I adjusted the shape of the faceplate to my own head which is a bit narrower than Danol's wide model, but still wider than HP's original gasket. The distance to the lens is also less because the cushion is quite thick. In my case the distance of my eyes to the lenses is perfect with this mod. 1mm closer and I start seeing the frames of the lense which is disturbing. As for the cushion it is just glued on so you kind of have to rip it off (there is a Youtube video that shows it can be done). There are 2 plastic pieces that need to be cut off as well. The magnets can be taken off by hammering them off with a thin screwdriver etc. So then you need a 2-sided tape to glue the original cushion to you mod, I had to use a bit of superglue on the sides to. You need a little bit of patience too :) It is not a perfect fit but it will work. I use this now for 1 month already and love it. Super comfortable and perfect FOV distance. The magnets could be just pushed in and they remained in place in my case. If the holes are too narrow in your case just heat the magnets up with a lighter (just a little) and push them in while hot. The heat will melt the hole and make it wider. Unfortunately as opposed to the original mod this design needs supports. So enable them.
