WARNING:
Removing a wall switch means dealing with 230V live wires. Do not do this if you are in any way unsure of what you are doing. You can hurt or kill yourself! If you are unsure, get an electrician to help you!

I changed my ceiling lights to zigbee lights by Hue. To control them manually one must use the "Hue dimmer switch"-remote. If you use the old wall switch and break power to the lights they can no longer be controlled by your home automation system. This confuses guests and creates problems for you. Also, the wall mount for the Hue switch does not fit the electrical boxes in Sweden where I live. That is why I designed this mount instead.

I printed this with Prusament PLA. I enabled supports under the whole “top” part. The “top” part was printed front side up.

Instructions:

Print the parts.

Remove the fuse for the lights.

Flip the wall switch to make sure there is no power! (obviously, let the lamps stay connected so they light up if there is power)

Remove the old switch and connect the wires directly so that the power is always on for your lights. I used a wago connector. Beware: a bad connection can get worse over time and cause heat and fire. If you are unsure of what you are doing - get an electrician to do this part.

Mount the base on the electrical box using the screws from the old switch.

Remove the magnets from the original Hue wall mount and press them into the holes in the back of the top part.

Click the top in place on top of the base and add your Hue switch.

Put the fuse back in.

Enjoy!
