# Hybrid PCB Vise I wanted something to hold my PCBs while soldering but wanted to have a wide vise without having to spend hours printing. For this reason, I used aluminium rods for the structure and a threaded rod to move the vise. BOM: - 2x 3/8" aluminium rods (as long as you want) - 1x 3/8" threaded rod (around 20mm longer than your rodes) - 3x 3/8" nuts (or use the 3d printed ones) I live in North America so I only had easy access to imperial dimension materials, but this could easily be modified to use metrics. Since I decided to use a press fit between the aluminium rods and the the printed parts, I decided to undersize a lot of the hole and latter sand them exactly the correct size. If you want to make sure the rods will never comes loose, you can add some glue. The 3d printed threaded holes are not a good fit for the threaded rod but forcing the rod a couple times (you can use a power drill) throw the hole makes it work. In th photo, I used some metal nuts but I then swapped for 3d printed ones to test and it works just fine.
