Hydraulic brake piston press

This is a simple tool used for the same purpose as the Park Tool PP-1.2.

Sometimes you need to spread the pistons out on a hydraulic caliper to accept a disc rotor. Oftentimes the brake lever is accidentally pulled without a rotor in the caliper, & the pistons won't retract after extension. In this case it's necessary to pry them apart.

This tool replaces the ordinary slotted screwdriver many might use, at risk of gouging the brake pads.

There are two ends. One is for pistons with pads installed, & the other is just for pistons without pads (therefore a wider gap).

I haven't used mine yet, nor do I have a PP-1.2 for reference, so I guessed many of the angles & dimensions.

It's designed to be simple & easy to print. I didn't think the offset handle on the PP-1.2 was worthwhile or even useful.

I only printed the rev 1 version. The files are for a rev 2 version that is untested.
Category: Tools
