Hydraulic RC Differential Brake

Hydraulic RC Differential Brake

thingiverse

This is a hydraulic brake assembly for an R/C car. This should be mounted in such a way that the gear shown in the image meshes with the spur gear on the drive train. In my use of this design, the RC buggy is two wheel drive and this is used in conjunction with an Arduino and two lm393 sensors to create a rudimentary traction control system. The element on the left hand side of the image that protrudes out from the rectangular 'caliper' is part of a 5mL syringe with no needle. The plunger for the syringe is glued to the brake 'pad' on one side. The other pad is glued to the 'caliper' and secured with two tooth picks. A piece of 1/8 in silicone tubing will extend from the end of the syringe attached to the brake to another full syringe that will be attached to a servo. Apply force with the servo to the complete syringe and force will be applied to the rotor through the partial syringe. A custom shaft will be needed for the rotor to ride on and to hold the gear. I plan to use a piece of threaded rod with a hole drilled through for the pin to hold the rotor and then a nut and a set screw to hold the gear in place. The STL title Servo and Syringe bracket is designed to hold a MG996R metal gear servo and a 3ml needless syringe. This syringe functions as half of the hydraulic control system. One would have to drill holes for the servo screws and use a glue of their choice to hold the syringe. A video will be uploaded in a few weeks/months showing the full traction control system functioning and the YouTube link will be added to this description at that time.
