Hyperstar Cable Router

Hyperstar Cable Router

This is a cable router designed for 8" Celestron telescopes equipped with the Starizona, Hyperstar focal reducer. The traditional method of routing cables is to run them straight over the corrector plate. But this results in diffraction spikes. If instead you run the cables over the corrector plate in a nice circular arc, the diffraction spikes are minimized. To use, tape your cables to this form with electrical tape and mount the form to the front edge of your telescope. I designed this thing using Alibre design. I have included the source file for those with this program. I printed it in PLA, but I imagine just about any material would do. 11/13/17 - I added a version for the 11" Celestron Hyperstar system. Note: I have not test fitted the 11" version yet, so it is a work in progress. 11/15/17 - I tested the part on an 11" Celestron at Starizona and it seems to fit. I have removed the "Work-In-Progress" flag for now. 12/3/17 - I added a version for the 9.25" Celestron Hyperstar system. 5/12/18 - I added a version for the 14" Celestron Hyperstar system. 6/4/18 - Updated the 14" cable router to reduce the gap with the Hyperstar (thanks for the feedback Joeren).
