I Beam/Beam ANSYS Finite Element Analysis

This model demonstrates why I Beam is use in almost all major constructions. I beam is constructed in a way that more material is added to the region which will experience maximum stress. This will give I beam the ability to handle maximum bending load while using the least amount of material(second moment of area). In this model i used an I beam and a beam (square cross-section) of same volume and span/length. That is same amount of material is used and load is also applied identically to different geometries.Volume = 957427.451sqmm span = 300mmAfter conducting an FEA study on both geometries, results shows that I Beam is less deformed. This analysis is done to just visualize the difference the geometry is making on handling/resisting the bending load.Note: Dimensions are not according to the standard size of beams. (will add more details and .scdoc files soon)
