I HATE Towel Rings...

I HATE Towel Rings…because they scrunch up my towel and don't keep it dry.

I apologize if I have offended anyone with this sentiment.

This thing will convert your towel ring into a towel bar.

It is designed for a ring that has a total outside dimension (diameter) of 168 mm and a cross-section diameter of 3 / 8 inch (9.5 mm).

Bill of Materials

You need to print one interface, two sides and three connectors.

Backstory

I can't even claim the house came like this.

We recently renovated our bathroom and there are a gazillion details and apparently I wasn't paying enough attention until it was too late.

But...through the power of 3D printing I was able to convert "too late" into "almost too late." It's almost like having a time machine and 1.21 gigawatts of electricity.

Can you tell that it's 5 in the morning?

Print Settings

Printer:

Prusa Mini

Rafts:

Doesn't Matter

Supports:

Doesn't Matter

Resolution:

Variable from 0.1 to 0.2 mm

Infill:

10%, but I also print all walls at 2 mm thickness

Filament:

Fiberlogy. I used Easy PET-G, but that's because EPG is my go-to filament for everything.

If you use a different filament and get a great (or not so great result), please leave a comment.

Notes:

I was able to get all parts to fit on the 180 x 180 mm build plate of my Prusa Mini albeit I had to rotate the interface.

Post-Printing

Hopefully it's obvious how to put the parts together from the pictures.

Everything was a press fit between the connectors and other pieces and I've been using it for 4 months with no problems.

Printers vary and tolerances can be finicky -- hopefully, if you need to resize anything, it's just the connectors.

The ring to bar interface should click on and be fairly stable. If it doesn't, your ring may be a different size than mine. Hopefully you can fix by resizing in your slicer.

The intent of the big circle is to keep the whole thing hanging vertically -- without it, the weight of the bar and towel pushes the whole thing against the wall.

My bar had a slight concave curve in front when I first installed it. Over time, this has become mitigated as the parts have settled into each other until I only notice it if I look for it.
