Igloo Cooler Latch

Igloo Cooler Latch

The latch on my igloo cooler broke, so I designed a new one. Instructions: Print 2 of the "rod half" files and then glue them together with some super glue. The rod will be very tight in the main latch, so to take care of that and any misalignment from gluing the halves together I put the rod in my drill, making sure not to over tighten, and the spun it while sanding with 150, then 220 sandpaper to get a nice smooth round surface. I did not glue the rod into the anchors, once the anchors are screwed in everything is secured into place so it isn't necessary. It did make the right anchor a little hard to screw in, because as the screw got tight the anchor wanted to rotate with the screw. You can probably solve this by wedging something like a flat head screw drive between the right anchor and the cooler while tightening up the screw, or gluing the rod in the anchors before screwing it to your cooler. If you do this, just make sure you don't use too much glue and glue the rod inside the latch!
