This printer design modifies SC12LUU components to reduce weight and noise. The designer replaced LM12UU bearings with DryLin R-solid polymer bearings (RJM-01-12), which have slightly different dimensions. To adapt the new bearings, they retrofitted a Thingiverse design and also created regular size SC12UU blocks. The printer instructions advise printing two identical "twin brother" parts for parallel applications to avoid binding effects. The design uses M5 screws at the bottom and M4 screws 25mm long at the top to secure the bearings in place.
