IKEA IVAR bookend bracket

IKEA IVAR bookend bracket

A bracket to fit IKEA IVAR shelf verticals (side unit) to insert additional horizontal bars. I use them to create fences or lips to stop stuff (mainly books) falling off the ends of the shelves or migrating from one shelf to an adjacent one. Two brackets and a 430mm long piece of wood (for 500mm Ivar) make one rail. It's designed so that it fits between two immediately adjacent shelves and so it doesn't block any shelf support positions except the ones the pegs are inserted in, so it can be inserted immediately above or below a shelf. The SCAD file is parameterized, with the following options available to adjust: + the thickness and depth of the recess in the bracket (i.e. to fit the wood you're using as a rail) + the vertical position of the bottom of the recess relative to the pegs, so you can adjust the rail to have a specific vertical position relative to the shelves + how far the bracket projects from the vertical at top and bottom (which is really just for aesthetics) + a text label to the concealed face to identify the bracket (and the size of the text used) There are descriptive notes for all these parameters in the top of the SCAD file. The STL files are for a 9mm wide slot set so that the bottom of the bracket is just flush with the bottom of a shelf set in the holes immediately below the ones the bracket is in, which is the configuration shown in the photos. The 'straight' file is 10mm constant width, the 'taper' is from 20mm to 10mm. I printed in Das Filament Grau PLA, which is a pretty close match to the colour of the plastic bars on the ends of the genuine Ikea shelves.
