IKEA “Jerker” rail extensions for extra storage

I still like my old IKEA “Jerker“ writing desk with its rails and extra boards to put things on. But as always you never can have enough storage.

Yes the desk is not the nicest, but I could not find a better one that can keep so many devices on such a tiny size so far. Having the 2 boards on the in the height adjustable rails is also a plus I think… But these lazy rails did always 1 job only so far and that needed to be changed…

A few of my smaller devices and projects often fall over on the boards and were in the way, so I decided to create a small standard plate that fits the hole mask of the desks rail system. The M5 holes are 43mm distance in width and 33mm distance in height.

In the middle of the plate there is a small square that fits square connectors you can easily create too. These connectors should have the dimensions: 14 x 9 x 15mm in width x height x depth.

I used M5x40 machine screws and nuts to mount the base plate to the rail. Another single M5x25 screw was used to secure the connection between the base plate and the extension, but I think these are not really needed, because the 2 parts hold together by themselves really good.

All parts printed really fast and well and so i am already thinking of some new extensions…

I have added some of my extensions for a Netatmo Welcome camera (part “plate” and “ring”), a Fritz!BoxFon charger (part “platefritzfon”), a simple headset holder (part “headset”) and a plate with 50x50mm inner dimensions (part “plateCO2”) that keeps one of my Arduino CO2 sensors as shown in the pictures. Maybe you can use these too.

Happy printing. :)
