UPDATE In the assembled picture the bottom shelf is the actual height of the lack table, I've extended the legs in the top two shelves as this will be an enclosure for my 3d printer. /UPDATE I was looking for a way to cleanly stack Lack Tables for an enclosure for my 3D Printer. I wanted to use screws but didn't have a large enough drill press so I created this jig to let me drill the correct sized holes precisely. There is a 2mm offset between the leg and the top of the table that needed to be accounted for as well. The holes are slightly undersized so that you can ream them with first drilling. The jig is meant for a #8 x 3" woodscrew. The pilot holes are drilled with 5/64" bit. The clearance holes are drilled with an 11/64" bit (this bit is NOT to be used with the jig, only the 5/64"). There are five holes on the jig but only two are needed, one is the center of the jig and is not used at all. Use two diagonal holes, your choice, the other two are in case you wear the holes excessively, in which case you can switch to them. In order to account for the 2mm offset you need to position the jig correctly, if you are drilling a leg, you should be able to read "LEG" on the jig when it's held in place. If drilling through the table top you should be able to clearly see "TABLE". No clamps are needed, just cup and hold the jig tightly to the corner with one hand and drill the hole with the other as in the photo. The engineered wood inside the legs is quite soft so don't over tighten screws, only tighten them until set flush with surface. Pilot holes are drilled in both legs and table, then the holes in table are enlarged with the 11/64" bit. INSTRUCTIONS: 1. Build top table as per instructions using the dowel screws provided by Ikea. 2. Drill pilot holes in bottom of legs, then pilot holes in next table top. Enlarge holes with 11/64" bit and attach tabletop to legs using (8) #8 x 3" woodscrews. 3. Use dowel screws to attach legs to bottom tabletop. 4. Repeat as necessary.
