I just put a SSD disk into an older iMac A1311 for a customer - he had purchased the SSD without realising these older (2009-2011) imac's use a 3.5" drive, while all SSD's are, of course, the newer and much smaller 2.5". I tried a few 2..5" to 3.5" adapters from thingiverse, but the ones I tried were, frankly, garbage - wrong size, drive at 90deg to normal etc. Anyway, make my own version, and also eliminate the unnecessary metal plate and anti-vibration rubber grommets - and by the 3rd iteration it all actually fitted OK :-)
