Improved Display Mount for Ender 2

Improved Display Mount for Ender 2

Although I have 4 other much fancier printers, I still love my Ender 2, which when tuned-up will print as nice a part as any of them and is still my “go to” printer for small PLA parts. However, there where a few things I didn't like, so I decided to design some parts to correct the problems. I had made a TF to SD conversion some time ago (Thingiverse 2883732), but I was still bothered by the difficult to read horizontal display. There are some other solutions out there, but I prefer to design parts that can be printed without rafts or supports, so I designed a two piece solution that meets that goal. I also incorporated the SD interface into the design and a cover for the OE micro SD slot which retains the adapter cable in the socket. I also added provisions to add a 4010 fan, but it is probably not necessary. While I had the control module apart, I thought I would add some X and Y smoother boards. I used 8 diode, 30mm x 40mm units and designed a mount that is sandwiched between the mounting standoffs and the cover and only requires some M3 hardware to attach the boards to the mount. The main mount attaches to the OE electronic enclosure with M3 screws (10mm or longer) and M3 nuts and the display module mounts with the OE hardware, less the standoffs, which are molded into the part for ease of assembly. I used M4 hardware to assembly the two parts of the housing, which will tightly sandwich the SD module into place. The TF cover is self explanatory and is open on the bottom for airflow. This design is made for the OE hot end housing which I have found works well enough with PLA that I have not seen the need to enhance it.
