Improved Tri Rod Mod Extruder Mount (Printrbot Simple 1405)

thingiverse

The original extruder mount for the tri rod mod has a very thin attachment point and only uses 3 of the 4 screws possible to attach alu extruder. I noticed that over time, the original mount would bend back under the motor's weight with all the nearby heat from the motor since it was so thin. This bending always happened during prints and was extremely frustrating as the bend would cause a y-shift of a few mm. This improved version features holes to attach the alu extruder in 4 points to distribute the weight better in addition to a much bulkier attachment surface to prevent bending. So far I've only used it for a couple of prints, but it's held up fantastically so far. Instructions You will need to use 4 20mm long screws to attach the extruder (not such a big deal, but it is worth noting). Also, due to the much bulkier attachment surface, you can't use the hot end fan mount in the original version. (That's the hot end fan, not to be confused with the very important part fan that works fine with this version)
