Improved X Carriage (Remix - Scalable Pen Plotter)
thingiverse
Update: The STP file is now available for anyone who wants to "remix a remix". First, I'd like to give full credit to the original designer; my modifications were minor and aimed at improving usability. Some edits have been made to part tolerances, but the main change allows users to employ linear bearings. The original part had an 8mm bore, which may have sufficed for pen plotting, but I built this machine for vinyl cutting, where increased carriage load can cause motor step loss due to friction. I recommend using metal ball bearing type linear bearings with this part. Due to space constraints, I couldn't incorporate a clamp; the parts are purely press-fit. While this method works fine for ball bearings, DryLin types require clamping force to achieve high tolerances. Please disregard my subpar first layer; the small bed footprint necessitated using a brim. As evident from the settings, they're not yet optimized.
