Incline Winding House, Drum and Motor Mounting

thingiverse

A working incline winding house, use the pulley and a rubber band to drive through one of the walls. You might need to file the insides to get it to run smoothly, the fit is very close to keep the wall thickness down. The rubber bands do stretch over time so there is also an adjustable motor mounting (for N20 motors) to make it easy to adapt to whatever you have available. If set up properly you should be able to achieve smooth running, see: https://youtu.be/tElA3EwYUik?t=35 . There is also some control software for a BBC:Microbit based control board available here: https://sourceforge.net/p/microbit-and-trains/code/ci/master/tree/incline/ You will find this design on my layouts "Chwarel Tegid" (Railway Modeller December 2022 and Narrow Gauge World Jan-Feb 2023) and "Chwarel Cwm Bach 2.0". See https://www.my-place.org.uk/mymodels/ IMPORTANT NOTE: This winding drum is probably too narrow to be suitable for use with my Transporter/Tanc incline tables, my models of those use an underground winding drum (which is prototypically accurate for some of the examples at Dinorwig) so I haven't designed a visible winding house for that. You could use the sides with a new drum though.
