Indoor Weather Vane/Wind Direction and Wind Speed (ESPHome/HA)

I made this device to show the wind direction and wind speed, whilst I know you can show it on a screen in many different ways I wanted to make something non-screen based. It uses data from Home Assistant (HA) sent to an ESPHome programme. The data is from the local met office integration for wind speed and standard weather integration for wind direction - but you could set it to whatever source you wanted (I am considering as a future project to use a garden based weather station as the data source). It uses a stepper motor to move the arrow and has 6 addressable LEDs to show the wind speed, I have used blocks of 5 mph up to 20 – 25 mph then when all 6 light up its 25+ mph. But as the blocks are not labelled you can use whatever unit/scale you choose. Whilst not a remix inspiration for the compass rose was taken from this compass rose coaster design: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4785606 I used this design for the D1 mini mount: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2908979 Components • D1 Mini ESP8266 • 2.1mm X 5.5mm panel chassis mount dc socket • 5V Step stepper motor 28BYJ-48 • ULN2003A stepper motor driver board • Strip of six 5V WS2812B addressable LEDs • Wire as required • 5v power supply (I’m using one rated at 1A)
