Inline Water Stop (32 and 40 mm tubing)

Do you need to install plumbing in a tight spot? Did the previous owner of your house forget to add a water stop under the sink? (Mine did!) This is a water stop that can be put inside a standard 32 mm or 40 mm tubing. The water stop is held in place by the tubing and an adjoining straight or angled joint, and is not exposed to the exterior (it is sealed inside the tubing/joint gasket), hence the watertightness properties of the print will not cause a leak (although a leaky print may drain the water stop, hence degrading its performance). The inline water stop prevents bad smell from the sewer in a compact way. The inline water stop should be mounted vertically to work effectively, preferably at the bottom of a long vertical tube. Please note that, as the meandering tube acts as a constriction, it may result in limited water flow, potentially leading to water spill. Also, in the case of hot (boiling) water or exposure to heat sources, carefully choose printing material with a sufficiently high melting point to avoid deformation (and potentially subsequent clogging). I have printed these parts in PLA with no support material, which is only recommended with cold tap water. Please note that given its meandering shape, support material is not recommended, as it may be difficult to remove, and failure to remove internal support may (and will most likely) lead to a defective part. My printer settings made gaskets unneccessary, but a layer of cooking oil may optionally be used to ensure proper sealing against the tubing. If you are uncertain if your print will retain the water, fill up the printed part and place it on a plate overnight. If the water level hasn't dropped significantly, it is probably sufficiently watertight. As with all water stops, evaporation may empty the water stop. The evaporation can be reduced significantly by pouring some cooking oil on top.
