The design of a flower pot is simple. Most planters of this style rely on two parts: a pot with a drainage hole, and a dish to collect the drained water. This design improves upon this approach by using additive manufacturing to create the pot as one part. SLS and other techniques make easy a job impossible with traditional pottery making. Additionally, a small spout has been added to the dish to allow excess water to be poured out without any mess, a feature that also could not happen on a pottery wheel. This design is unique in that additive manufacturing is the most practical method for making it. The printability was tested with Nylon-12 SLS, but the model could realistically be produced in almost any additive style. Made by Spencer Williams from Webb School of Knoxville.
