Inspire 1 Battery Carrier

Inspire 1 Battery Carrier

thingiverse

Designed to ferry batteries back and forth in the field for charging and then re-use at a separate site (which obviously hard to get to, else you wouldn't need this), especially Search and Rescue since you often have to do a lot of flights from remote locations. Here's a video showing flight with carrier and extra battery. While designed to not significantly alter the lateral CG of the aircraft, it will alter its performance characteristics. The Inspire can definitely lift the extra 600g of a second battery, but it requires more thrust which means less remaining for maneuvering and speed, and it blocks the VPS so the aircraft feels a bit "drunk" near the ground because it only has GPS to hold its position. Your mileage may vary, so do not use it you're not comfortable with or don't understand the change in operating characteristics and increased risk associated. Part 107 commercial pilots are advised that, at the time of writing, non-flight batteries appear to be disallowed. Hopefully sensible clarifications or exceptions will be made in the future, however, and that doesn't affect recreational or public agency use cases.
