This is the first of many projects from the Ultimaker Academy. We are developing a toolkit for continuing professional development for teachers. With this toolkit, teachers can empower students and makers to turn their ideas and creativity into reality. This toolkit is still under development. With the publication of these open beta projects, we would like to encourage our community to give us feedback, to improve the projects and the toolkit. We tested the first projects with a small group of schools. Now it is time to ask feedback from you!If you have any questions or comments, please contact Ronald Scheer. Ronald is Product Manager Education at Ultimaker. He is responsible for Ultimaker's educational outreach and curriculum development of both the international e-learning program for teachers and the educational projects for students.This project is about the aquaponic. This model is fun and instructive. Aquaponics is a process of combinging Aquaculture (fancy word for fish farming) with Hydroponics (soil-less agriculture usually requiring a petroleum based nutrient solution for the plants). The idea of Aquaponics is to utilize the waste of fish (fish poop) to fertilize and nourish the plants within the system. We feel that this way of producing food has a huge untapped potential and want to encourage innovation in this field. Imagine that these developments will lead to a refrigerator or kitchen system that grows its own food!
