I have had a hard time keeping my older Briggs Intek engine air filter to seal properly. I designed and printed a new filter holder that can be secured tightly with 2 springs and a bolt to tightened down on the critical seal going into the carb. This is on a Hustler Sport ZTR and its a 17.5 horse Briggs Intek. The parts were printed in PETG and glued together with silicon, making sure to have the filter seal plate ridges up so they mate with the 698403 filter. Insert the filter in the new assembly and place on the engine, take a #7 drill and drill into the 25mm bolt holder that is placed beyond the inlet to the carb. Drill only about and 1/2 inch then tap for 1/4 20. If you stop using this make sure that no air can get in the hole you drilled. My block fits very tight and as long as you did drill all the way through the block you should be ok and not let unfiltered air into the carb. I found the springs and screw at Lowes. Hillman machine screw 491332 Hillman Hillman Spring 543010 Better than what I had, a new cover that is not warped is about $45 to $50 dollars and that is of course an option. Wouldn't recommend buying a used one off ebay as they are surely warped like mine. Have Fun. Cheers Kisssys
