Interlocking Hexagons, the Grid

Interlocking Hexagons, the Grid

thingiverse

These hexagons complement http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:95718 by allowing squaring the shapes and having square grid corridors -- all while still using the hexagonal shape as the basis of form, interlock and outline. The 1x4 corridor can be used to quickly build up rooms and has fewer binding issues when interlocking than trying to use hexagons. Instructions Pick some pieces and print. A 0.3mm layer height is sufficient as there are no sloping surfaces. A minimal fill of at least 10% is advised and they are thin enough that printing solid doesn't consume significantly more filament. There is no need for raft or supports, they can be popped off the build plate with a thin spatula.
