I do not know why Soldiworks wll not simulate this ratchet correctly. The ratchet is fixed to the shaft which is allowed to rotate. the pawl can rotate also around the shaft but is fixed to another disk. The oscillating motor is this other disk. The desired action is that as the disk is oscillated, it should engage the ratchet to cause the shaft to rotate anti-clockwise only. When the oscillatory motion is clockwise the pawl should roll over the teeth of the ratchet. I modified Matt Lombard's ratchet in chapter 33 of his book Soldworks Bible 2010, and it did the same thing. Either SW is screwed up, or I just do not see something. Can anyone help me? (Don't do it by suppressing mates, that is a cop out! ) Sorry about the 2012 SW files, I hate that feature of SW and may junk it because of it.
