My tilt axis felt kind of loose to a certain degree of movement, which made it feel a lot less smooth. This turned out to be down to the washers inside that lock in place having too great a tolerance. This meant they moved back and forth a little before they started properly tilting the monitor. After disassembling, designing, printing, and replacing all these washers - the arm now moves smoothly!
