iPad Mini Wall Mount

iPad Mini Wall Mount

A wall mounted holder for an iPad Mini (original, but can be adjusted). There are several parts, the back that's screwed into the wall, the front, and several small grub screws (all 3D printed). Note the back wall mount does not have any holes pre-drilled, you need to drill them to suit your wall. Be sure to drill the holes so they are just deep enough for the screws to be flush if behind the actual iPad. Then connect the iPad to power (I used this cable: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32974464520.html - I needed to break away some of the internal plastic to make it fit), and hold the front in place while inserting the grub screws (you'll need to print 6 of these). The grub screws also hold the iPad inplace - do them just tight enough to hold the iPad, but not too tight to flex or damage the plastic. Print everything face down. I printed on a glass bed to get that glossy finish. The source code to generate this is available here: https://github.com/sillyfrog/iPad-Mini-Wall-Mount . You can use this to customize for different model iPads, or different size printer beds. (If you have a larger printer bed, you can make the whole thing slightly larger to allow more room for the charging cable). **Waking up the iPad when desired**: I didn't want to have the screen on 24x7, nor did I want to press the button to wake it up. So a trick I figured out is to put a Normally Closed relay inline on the USB cable (I put it on the +5v wire), and turn it on whenever there is movement. (I have motion sensors in the room, that are connected through to Home Assistant.) Then every time movement has been sensed, no more often than every 5 minutes, I turn the relay off for 1 second then back on.
