Iphone 12 case with removable Digiscope Adapter

<p>I designed this for a friend who needed an adapter to fit his iPhone 12 pro on his birding scope. Shopping around these can be very expensive with one brand costing £180. Seems very expensive for a bit of plastic so 3D printing to the rescue.&nbsp;</p><p>This prints in two main parts plus two small blocks to glue in to stop the parts rotating under weight. It requires some small 10*5*1mm magnets to hold the adapter to the case. As the iPhone 12 has two lenses suitable for phone-scoping or digi-scoping the adapter can fit in two positions allowing the use of the top and bottom lenses of the phone. Had that not been needed I would have ignored the magnets and simply fitted the case to the adapter with glue.&nbsp;</p><p>The adapter is designed to fit a 55mm eyepeice which is about the largest I have seen. I have included the Fusion 360 file to make it easy to adjust that to fit different sized birding scope eyepieces. Alternatively you could juts print a tube to fit inside the adapter as a step down ring. Would probably need to be glued into place. I may re-design the adapter with sole slots to make it simple to fit lock in step down rings.</p><p>The pictures here are of the unit printed in PLA as that was my choice for prototyping (hence the glue marks in the pictures). I printed the final unit in some very hard TPU on my Mini+ and it works really well with some impact resistance.</p><p>Four parts are needed for the assembled print, the case, the eyepiece and two blocks. All four parts will fit on the Prusa Mini+ bed at the same time for an easy print. I have designed it so no supports or raft is needed if all is printed on the flat side. To assemble first insert the two blocks in the centre of each set of three holes so they are flush with the eyepiece side and protrude from the rear. Glue a magnet in each of the four remaining holes making sure they are all inserted the same way around polarity wise. Onto the iPhone 12 case and glue the six magnets in place as shown in the picture. Again, be carful on the polarity as they will need to attract to the magnets on the eyepiece.</p>
