This print aligns the iPhone 5 lens with the eyepiece of a cheap handheld microscope available at Radio Shack (~$15, Model: MM-100 | Catalog #: 63-1313). The design consists of two pieces: a top iPhone adapter that snaps onto a microscope adapter base. I made this a 2 piece design with the intent to create adapters for different types of microscopes and phones. Slots along the left and right allow manipulation of the zoom dial. Base is long enough to remain attached to microscope when at full zoom. So far I've used this to inspect PCB's and entertain/educate my nieces and nephews. Further notes: The iPhone 5 fits pretty snug, but please be careful and pay attention to ensure it does not slip out and shatter. the top iPhone 5 adapter fits snug to the microscope base, but can pop off when manipulating the microscope zoom. I suggest sliding the assembled adapter up, manipulating the zoom, then sliding the assembled adapter back down until the eyepiece comes in contact with the top iPhone 5 adapter. More to come. Instructions I am able to make a fitting adapter using PLA with a Makerbot Replicator 2 using these settings: Medium quality 10% Infill 2 shells 0.27 layer height no Raft no Supports Instructions for use: Remove the rubber end to the eyepiece. Snap iPhone into iPhone adapter top. Connect the top iPhone adapter top to the microscope adapter base. Slide assembled adapter onto microscope until iPhone adapter top comes in contact with the eyepiece. Contact with the eyepiece ensures the best image. Turn on the microscope light bulb. Activate the iPhone camera. When the image comes up, tap the center of the image to focus the iPhone lens. Turn the dial at the base of the microscope to focus until image is clear. Use pinch zoom to manipulate image on phone. Repeat steps 7 and 8 as needed to clear image.
