iPhone 5 Dock/Stand

Here is a charging dock and dual angle (8 and 30 degrees) stand for the iPhone 5. There is a pocket in the base to coil in the Lightening cable for a neater appearance. The docking position slot is wide enough to handle a hard shell case on the phone (like the one from INCIPIO) and there is a second ledge to set the phone on in either the vertical or horizontal position at a 30 degree angle. Instructions Print using your favorite 3D printer settings. Along with printing raftless, HBPs are pretty much the rule nowadays it appears to me for printing ABS. This object is above the general 2 inch (50mm) ABS limit for non-heated build platforms, so HBP is highly recommended. I used zero infill and 2 outer layers for the FILL settings and the object is plenty strong. I found that the dock printed fine without the internal support material turned on although the roof of the cable pocket has a bridge. There are 2 versions - the "iDock5lightening" fits the OEM Lightening cable from Apple, while the "iDock5aftermarket" fits an after market cable I purchased that has a larger connector housing. After printing, Be sure to do any surface clean up and sanding BEFORE installing your Lightening cable. Way easier to work on this object before the cable is installed, but there is a giant temptation to work on the phone's cable set up when you remove the dock from your platform. you will need to clean out the Lightening cable hole with a small round file or drill bit. Both connector types should fit tightly enough to stay put once installed, so be careful not to over-file or drill out to much of the hole. Depending upon your hard case thickness (if you use one), the lightening connector should be adjusted to match the height above the docking position slot surface to fully seat inside the iPhone for a good connection. The hollow base of the dock gives you a place to stuff any extra cable length (or hide a key in, etc.). If you intend setting the dock up on an expensive surface, I always advise using some adhesive backed cork or felt sheet cut to size.
