# Introduction With this hardware, you can remotely control any of the current alternative Game Boy Camera ROMs. These include: * GB Photo! https://github.com/untoxa/gb-photo * 2-Bit PXLR Studio https://github.com/HerrZatacke/2bit-pxlr-studio To use these ROMs you need a flashable Game Boy Camera cart: * HDR's Gameboy Camera Flashcart https://github.com/HDR/Gameboy-Camera-Flashcart # Demonstration https://youtube.com/shorts/X9WIi2x1-wE # Principles All of these ROMs allow for gamepad control over serial link port. This project takes advantage of that and converts infrared remote signals to gamepad commands. The ATTINY85 is powered entirely off of the 5V from the link port. All you need is to pop in the remote and fire away with a remote. It's preprogrammed for a small card remote such as https://www.adafruit.com/product/389 but by setting the debug flag and watching serial output you can choose different button mappings or a different remote. # Usage U/L/R/D - d-pad OK - A 0 - B Asterisk - Select Pound - Start # Further development A better IR library could be used, but ATTINY85's arduino SDKs have a little weird way of doing interrupts and most of the IR libraries need porting. This would allow non-NEC protocol remotes, but NEC protocol covers a majority of remotes today. This one shows promise: https://gist.github.com/SeeJayDee/caa9b5cc29246df44e45b8e7d1b1cdc5 Keystrokes are sent one at a time as a fixed impulse, you could also buffer repeating IR signals and turn them into held button presses.
