This model contains beta cells full of evenly distributed insulin granules. Under stimulation by high levels of glucose they would move to the cell surfaces. Reconstructed from electron microscopy tomography scan data by Professor Peter Thorn of the University of Sydney, with thanks to Fiona McCulloch and Professor Gwyn Gould of the School of Life Sciences, University of Glasgow.
