Jacket Zipper Earbud Wire Holder

Tried making a little clip-like attachment that I could attach to the zipper of my jacket and hold my earbud wire in place so that it doesn't get caught on things or swing around.

The actual clip itself is somewhat effective (although I'm considering making it tighter), but I designed it specifically for my jacket so it probably needs to be resized and modified for other jackets. It does come off accidentally at times when I pull too hard on the wire, though that happens less often now that I'm used to it. The wire holder works well and it's very hard to pull the wire out accidentally, although the clip itself usually ends up coming off before the wire does.

Main issue I found is that adding a clip doesn't completely solve the problems I ran into and also makes moving around a lot a bit of a hassle, but it works well enough for me to use it occasionally. Don't plan on making more prototypes for the foreseeable future, but who knows.

Print instructions

Category: Hobby Summary

Tried making a little clip-like attachment that I could attach to the zipper of my jacket and hold my earbud wire in place so that it doesn't get caught on things or swing around.

The actual clip itself is somewhat effective (although I'm considering making it tighter), but I designed it specifically for my jacket so it probably needs to be resized and modified for other jackets. Just print this with the thin part on the bottom and the hook facing sideways.

How I Designed This

The way the clip works is basically a just miniaturized bobby pin with a hook for the wire on the end. Main reason I used the design was that I randomly remembered bobby pins while I was making this and figured the design was an interesting idea. To be perfectly honest, I don't know if having the zigzags is better or worse than making it flat, but the design works well enough for me to not be particularly concerned with optimizing it. The clip is designed pretty specifically with my jacket in mind, which is why there are some parts (e.g. the size and angles) that are the way they are.
